lol i can nearly place my fingers under my feet, straight legs and i cant dunk (not even touch the rim yet). And Im 6′0 175lbs…
So yes flexibility is vital, but man the key is power = force x speed…

LISTEN, im only 13 with a 38inch vert. Im looking forward to dunking but im only 5′8/9. Ever since I started touching my toes i started touching 10feet and grabing. FLEXIBILITY IS KEY my frrieeend. When I start dunking im going to post a video!!

In my case: stretching and plyometric workouts didnt work as well as doing plyos only.
You have a high vertical, and you reached that with no flexibility at all. Maybe you stick to your ancient training methods and try to get more of them.
I cant say that getting more flexible will prohibit any gains. But you cant say you need to be flexible to have a high vertical.
You know your body the best.

So what you are saying is that it doesnt matter how flexible you are. Because i am not flexible at all, i am like 8 inches from touching my toes, but i have a 37 inch vertical. So if i got more flexible my vertical might stay the same?

but there is no study in which they prove
“stretching will prevent injuries”
stretching can really lead to long-time injuries like arthritis. (not proven too)
in fact There are those who cant even touch their toes while standing.. and those who stretch every day 4 hours (kadour ziani)
November 9th, 2009 - 18:34
they did do a study , they found that people do better if they dont stretch. but the main reson to stretch is so you dont get injured or pull a muscle.

Dont do static stretches before jumping. This will really decrease your power output.
Btw there are no scientific studies which show the positive effects of stretching.
Thats all rumors/hype. In fact intensive stretching will prohibit your CNS to get used to the moves your doing in the jump, because there will always be a changed “connection” between brain and Tendons.. if u know what i mean

Every program guarantees you to get explosiveness, don“t they? goes from Air alert to Air attack, this guy offers the same shit !!! and you people buy it ??
He is putting every word of every program in a different way to make it sound groundbreaking new,
- SCAM.-
-It’s amusing, we never see Mr. Jacob dunking on any of his videos.-

Beachvolleybal is a whole other type of jumping,
it is more like 2 steps and jump, not really a volleybal attack or a b’ball jump or anything
November 9th, 2009 - 23:43
Dunking skills could be used for attacks behind the 3-meter line. Cuz you can just glide but you want(Not that is the thing with dunkin’)
But I reckon I just said I was dissapointed, I didn’t said I didn’t know why or something, haha
Thanks for the answer anyway

volleyball can benefit from basketball rebound like drills, but not dunking drills.
keep in mind too volleyball players use different techniques to avoid touching the net
