Vertical Jumping Programs Teaching athletes to jump higher

The Most Important Factor in Obtaining Optimum Gains from a Vertical Jump Program

Posted on January 11, 2010

Many people have spent years studying the art of the vertical leap and how to increase it to see optimum performance on the athletic field.  There have been many theories as to why we have different vertical leaps and what the best ways to improve upon it are.  Some have cited genetics, others specific types of workouts such as weight training or plyometrics.  But, I can personally tell you after spending an abundance of time analyzing athletes response to various vertical jump training programs that there is one particular variable that effects anyone’s ability to achieve vertical jump gains when they are performing any vertical leap program.

The factor that, in my observations, has set apart those who achieve the results they desire from a vertical jump program and those who fail or only achieve minimal gains is that of effort.  Simply place, the athletes who place forth more effort see more gains in the end.  But don’t confuse effort to be a simple matter, it consists of many other things such as commitment, dedication, and will.  It is all too common for me to see an athlete be excited about raising his vertical leap, but lose that drive to succeed a few weeks into the program.  This is in my opinion the number one reason why optimal results are not achieved nearly as often as they could be.

It takes a strong mind to stay committed to any goal you set, and it is always simpler to slack or just flat out quit.  But I assure you that if you remain right to your vertical jump program and stick with it throughout you will see the results you desire.  This really goes for any program, although the level of results from certain programs could be heightened depending on the individual.  This is why I often suggest that people buy the highest quality vertical jump program that remains within their budget.  You don’t want to buy something you simply can’t afford to, but if you’re going to do it, you might as well buy the best program to see the best results.

So there you have it, with proper effort, commitment, and dedication, anyone can achieve maximal results from a vertical jump program.  Obviously some will gain more than others in the end, but I will tell you that if you truly give it your all, you will transform your vertical jump into something you never knew it could be.
