I just want to make sure that everyone knows you dont go down to make momentum before the jump, what you are doing in moving your muscle fibers to their ideal lengths, and timing the firing of the muscles. The momentum you would make is in the opposite direction (downward) than what you want.

yes lower back is nearly as vital as abs, but they also stunt growth for the kids like myself, so i don’t really recommend it, not that vital, plyometrics are the way to go.

hey i’ve being doing deadlifts since summer 08 up to know and increased my vertical by 6 or more inches. when i first did deadlifts i was at 275, now i am at 355 and increasing it slowly. and i am young and havent had any back problems. back feels the same when i started, so doing them right is key. i have a video but its cheesy and i didnt do deadlifts at the time. but i will post another dunk video.:)

The lower back is not to be confused with the glutes which funtion as hip extenders… they pulll the hamstring toward the back… Some of the other exercises cover this but I will have exercises specifically for that soon..
